Shanghai is not like Hong Kong. People might not necessarily understand the importance of personal space here, people stare at me like I'm the only Indian person they have ever seen, and riding the METRO...let's just visualize a 'sardine can' and amuse ourselves with the image of an indian girl dead in the middle of it!

What brought me here? We exhibited Kanchan Couture's finest demi-couture and bridal collections at the Shanghai Expo, 2010 - with a foot traffic guestimate of over 400,000 people per day! Since we were here, we decided to meet with boutiques, shopping malls, designers, work on some collaborations and also do some good old fashion market research.

Some of Shanghai's best fashions are found in the nooks and crevices of artsy districts, hidden away inside buildings, or out boasting onto the streets of the French Concession, Xin Tian Di, Nanjing, Peoples Square, Pudong..the places are limited and endless at the same time...Go to Shanghai, you'll know what i mean!

Coming to Shanghai for work has been a great learning experience. I know a few things didn't go the way that we had planned, but the people I've met and the sights I've seen along the way, will continue to bring me back to Shanghai...

Bonjour from Paris!

Kanch and I have been experiencing symptoms of a long distance relationship this month. We text each other before we sleep, we call each other first thing in the morning, we have problems, we tell each other when something exciting has happened, we look to one another for support.

Business Trips. Not easy. Hard work!

Kanch is currently in Paris, meeting with Press, Buyers, and giving the Parisians a special showcase of Kanchan Couture's best in a Trunk Show, co-hosted by Vanessa Destaing, Paris Jeweler.

Kanch sends her love and photos before going into her final day and event in Paris. Brussels, here she comes..

Kanchan Couture VIP Fashion Show at MINI SPOT: MINI-mal Chic

‘Twas a hot, humid Thursday evening in Hong Kong and rain was hanging thick in the air...  A designer set out to do the one thing she loves, again, to try to win over the public with her creative flair, razzling work, and dazzling clothes. Kanchan Couture and MINI Hong Kong teamed up to have a VIP Fashion Show at MINI SPOT.

The creative minds of MINI HONG KONG and Kanchan Couture came together a few weeks ago to organize a very special evening: MINI-mal Chic, inspired by the VOGUE September issue.

Minimal elegance this season is acheived with single hues, accompanied with fun signature peices. We turned back to full skirt silhouettes, exotic hair and sexy makeup and showed a collection of Kanchan Couture’s demi-couture range on the 2nd of September, 2010.

I think all my friends read my last fashion show blog, because this time, I was showered with friends and love, who came to support all the hard work that went into organizing this VIP night.

This time before the event, was not as stressful as the last time. We still had models that showed up late, lighting problems, food and beverage problems, layout issues, but this is all normal. I think I'm officially starting to get the hang of it.

Panicking during the heat of the moment was something I used to do. I think the grown up approach, was to take on each obstacle -- one at a time, and find the most logical solution. This is harder than it sounds, but do-able! I was pretty proud of myself.

Even as I was making my closing speech, as the MC for the event, and the microphone decided to have a mind of it's own, making loud screeching noises, I was  completely at calm and still enjoyed every moment of it.

By George, I think I've finally got it!
